Winter Wax

Wax

Winter is a time of reflection.

I find myself dreaming of the seasons when we are all more in the moment.

In Spring and Summer our family is always bustling around the yard. “I’m going outside.” is a common statement from the front door during those seasons. My husband and I mulch, weed gardens and getting soil mixed with proper organic amendments for new seeds. We also plan for the addition of new bee hives and prep supplies to make it all come together like we know what we are doing.

The end of Winter, we are always trying to ensure our two children have the right sized bee suits to still fit for the season as their involvement and excitement is paramount in assisting our hope for future bee keepers and of course a love for honey.

But the reality at that the moment is extremely cold feet and not enough hot tea from the kettle. The wax left over from years of honey processing is simmering over a flame and the smell of sweet honey comb is invigorating my future beekeeping self. It is the smell and the essence of why we do what we do under that smell. We ponder each year…when will we let this hobby come to life as a business? When will we take a leap of faith that we are ready to go big or go home?

Well, this year that idea is now a thought of the past. We are trying to make even better locally made products for our community of Cincinnati, Ohio. We hope you will help support our mission and we look forward to meeting each of you through our growing excitement.
